Luis Miguel Clemente
Luis Miguel Clemente is a prominent Portuguese conductor, recognized as one of the most charismatic, talented and stimulating of his generation. Energetic conductor and endowed with impeccable technique, motivated by a deep belief in the positive power of music to unite and inspire people, he develops an intense professional activity in Portugal and abroad.
In recent years, Luis Miguel Clemente has achieved an international reputation, performing in Portugal, Spain, England, France, Switzerland, Moldova, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Greece, Canada, USA Mexico, Slovakia and Myanmar as conductor, teacher of orchestra and jury direction in international competitions for conductors. In 2019, he has scheduled projects in Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, Italy, Lebanon, Germany, Ireland, Italy and England.
He was awarded the prize for best conductor of the Leonard Bernstein Chair , awarded by the foundation Caja Rural de España (Spain). Won the International conducting competition in Budapest (Hungary) at 2012 and recently his performance with the Pacific region festival orchestra ( Canada), was awarded the 1 Pacific region young soloist competition . He was awarded the distinction for artistic merit by the Rotary Club of Powell River (Canada) and also by the Rotary Club of Covilhã (Portugal). Between 2007 and 2018 he was honored several times by the excellent presidents of the City Council of Portel, in recognition of the cultural impact and artistic excellence of the National Wind Orchestra project on local cultural life.
Of his activity as a conductor, the collaborations with the European union youth wind orchestra , a European union youth wind orchestra , a Pacific region festival orchestra , the Orquestra do Algarve, the Filarmonia das Beiras, the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra, the Moldova Chamber Orchestra, Constantza symphony orchestra , Dune symphony orchestra from Budapest, Cuerdas de la Universidad de Murcia Orchestra , Rundfunk blasorchester leipzig , Shenn-yun symphony orchestra from New York, Ensemble equilibrium from rome , St. Anne's Camerata from Oxford University, West Texas A&M Symphony Orchestra , Xalapa filarmonia Or the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra Taiwan, among others.
Currently, Luis Miguel Clemente is in the final stage of his research with a view to obtaining a PhD in Orchestra Direction at the University of Aveiro, with a thesis focused on the phenomenological study of the technique of conductor Carlos Kleiber.
In 2014 he obtained the Specialization Diploma in Performance - Orchestra conducting at the University of Aveiro.
He is a Post-Graduate and Master in Performing arts : music by Maryland University (USA).
Between 2007 and 2011 he perfected his studies in orchestra direction with conductor Jan Cober at Instituto Superior ISEB (Italy), graduating with the best grade in his class.
He holds a degree in Musical Sciences from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
He has a degree in Orchestra Direction from Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music from London.
He perfected himself, as a conductor, with Alexander Polischuk, Jean Sebastien Berreau, Ernest Schelle, Arturo Tamayo, Michael Dittrich, Josep Pons and Colin Metters.
